You Are My Sunshine (With The Raelettes, Ft Margie Hendricks)

Album: Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music Volume 2, ABC/Paramount 435, October 1962.
Single (A): ABC 10375, November 1962, b/w Your Cheating Heart.

Jimmy Davis, the country music singer and later Louisiana governor, and Charles Mitchell were credited for the song. Two versions were released before Jimmie Davis' recording was released on February 5, 1940: on August 22, 1939 by The Pine Ridge Boys (Marvin Taylor and Doug Spivey), and on September 13, 1939 by The Rice Brothers Gang. Davis bought the song and rights from Paul Rice and put his own name on it. According to some sources, clarinetist Pud Brown was also involved with the Rice Brothers for the song's origin or first arrangement.

Recorded on 5 September 1962 in New York. Arranged by Gerald Wilson.
Musicians not credited.

Duets:
A highly forgettable post mortem-produced virtual duet with Chris Isaak was released with Genius And Friends, Rhino/WEA, 20 September 2005.

The tune was also part of a duet medley with Carol Burnett; cf. '72 TV Burnett (released).
